World Cups 1950 and 1954

The Turkish national team qualified for the 1950 World Cup after defeating its Syrian counterpart 7-0, but it was unable to participate in the finals for financial reasons. Then, in 1954, he qualified for the World Cup at the expense of Spain and participated in the finals between a group that included Hungary, West Germany and South Korea. It lost by Germany 4-1 and beat South Korea 7-0, so it qualified for the final match of the second group, but lost it to Germany West again with a score of 7-2.

The sixties to the nineties

After the emergence of the national championship in its new form and opening the doors of European competitions to Turkish clubs, Turkish football witnessed radical changes, the results of which appeared during the seventies when the Turkish team approached qualification for the European Nations Cup 1972 and 1976.

Millennium Revolution

Turkey the new millennium witnessed the emergence of a new generation under the leadership of the well-known Turkish coach (Fatih Terim). Euro 2000 was the beginning; The arrival of the Turks and their passing through the first round after defeating the host Belgian team before falling with difficulty against the strong Portugal 2-0 was the beginning. The summit of Turkish football surprised everyone in the 2002 FIFA World Cup Finals in Korea and Japan.. The draw placed them against Brazil, Costa Rica and China. The stumble against Brazil 1-2 and the draw with Costa Rica 1-1 did not prevent the Turks from qualifying at the expense of China by winning 3-0 and occupying the group rank behind Brazil, so that the Turks completed their journey by beating Japan at home 1-0 and then Senegal with a golden goal in the quarter-finals At that time, the Turks announced the birth of a wonderful generation led by the Bosporus bull (Hakan Sukur) and players such as Hasan Sas and the brilliant goalkeeper Rushtu. The semi-final on that day was against Brazil, which suffered both before winning with Ronaldo's goal. The Turks came out with their heads held high and hit South Korea with a hat-trick, one of which was and still is the fastest goal in the history of the World Cup. This revolution was soon extinguished by a setback for the exit from the European play-off for the Euro 2004 by submerged Latvia after a 2-2 draw in Ankara, and Turkey's failure to qualify for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany was another setback. The Turkish brilliance returned with the return of veteran Terim to lead the Turkish technical staff.. The 2008 European Nations Cup in Switzerland and Austria was a witness to the brilliance of the Turks and their ability to make the event. In that tournament, Turkey was drawn with a fiery group alongside strong Portugal, solid Czech Republic and hosts Switzerland. The start was negative, with a 0-2 loss from Portugal, but the Turks soon woke up to victory over hosts Switzerland 2-1 and the Czechs 3-2 in wasted time, despite being two goals behind at the beginning of the second half. The Turkish miracle continued against stubborn Croatia by winning 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the last extra time, before the Turks fell with great difficulty against the Germans 2-3. The Turkish team qualified for the Euro 2016 finals, which is scheduled to be held on French soil after obtaining a position The third best among all the participating groups Although the teams of Norway and Ukraine are ahead of the Turks by one point, the laws and regulations prevented that. This is due to the law that stipulates that the points obtained from the team that ranked fifth and sixth are canceled and thus the Turkish team qualified directly as the third best without entering the playoffs.
