In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt today expressed its condemnation of the attempt to assassinate former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Imran Khan was shot in the foot in an attack described by the Pakistani president as a "heinous assassination attempt".
In a tweet, Pakistani President Arif Ali described the shooting as a "heinous assassination attempt". "I thank God that he is fine but he was shot a few times in the leg, which we hope is not critical," he wrote.
"There was a person in front of the vehicle with an automatic pistol. He fired a shot, and everyone in the front row was injured," said Fouad Chaudhry, a former Pakistani information minister in Khan's government.
He added that people tried to seize the weapon, adding: "During the argument, he missed his target. There was a lot of blood on the vehicle.” He added that six people who were standing on the vehicle were injured.
In the first reaction of the United States of America to the assassination attempt on Imran Khan, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said: "Violence has no place in politics, and we call on all parties to refrain from acts of violence, harassment and intimidation," adding that "the United States is firmly committed to Pakistan." democratic and peaceful, and we stand by the Pakistani people.”
